Handwoven in the Atlas, direct from the weavers
Toubkal Carpets is a small, independent maker-to-buyer operation. No warehouse, no showroom full of staff, no middlemen between the loom and your floor. Just rugs made by hand in Morocco and sent straight to your door.
One person, working close to the loom
My name is Hassan El Berkaoui. Toubkal Carpets is the storefront I run under the Toubkal Rugs name, and behind it is one person who answers your messages, packs the parcels, and knows the weavers by name.
I work directly with cooperatives in the Atlas mountains, the women and families who sit at the loom for weeks at a time. Because there is no chain of resellers in between, more of what you pay reaches the people whose hands made the rug, and you get a fair price for real handwork.
Almost everything is made to order. You choose the size and the piece, and a weaver begins it for you, usually finishing in 40 to 50 days. A few favourites are kept in stock for when you cannot wait. Either way, every rug is one of a kind.

I work hand in hand with weaver cooperatives in the mountains, on the looms their families have used for generations. Nothing passes through a middleman.
Woven to order
Almost every piece is made for you once you order, over 40 to 50 days on the loom. A few finished pieces are kept in stock and ready to ship.
One of a kind
Each rug is knotted by hand in highland wool, never printed and never machine made. No two are alike, and the rug you see is the rug that comes to you.
A rug holds the weeks it took to make. Every symbol a memory, every colour a season in the mountains.
